Just like vehicles, registration for our four legged friends needs to be renewed each year. Brimbank pet owners must renew their pets’ registration by 10 April 2018.
Registering your animals is part of being a caring and responsible pet owner. By law, owners of dogs and cats over three months of age must register their pet with Council.
Registration provides peace of mind for pet owners – it is the most effective way to have your pet returned if they go missing.
It is also a timely reminder for pet owners to update their details if they have changed address or phone numbers in the last 12 months – in the unfortunate event a pet does go missing, we need to have your correct contact details so we can reunite your pet with you.
Failing to register a dog or cat is a breach of the Domestic Animals Act 1994 and could attract a fine.
All dogs and cats registered for the first time in Brimbank must be microchipped and desexed.
Registration tags must be worn on a dog or cat’s collar at all times. This enables the prompt return of lost animals and if an animal is injured, the tag will ensure that the owner can be contacted and advised of the pet’s whereabouts and condition.
Registration fees help with costs for lost pet holding facilities and the delivery of responsible pet ownership programs, contributing to a safer community.
We have mailed out renewal forms to owners of pets already registered; alternatively, Pet Registration Forms may be downloaded at brimbank.vic.gov.au or collected from a Council customer service centre.

Hampshire Road Upgrade
We’re transforming the ‘heart’ of Sunshine into an attractive, well-planned space that's easy to negotiate. Work is currently underway along Hampshire Road between the Man lifting cow statue at the corner of Bennett Place and Service Street.
To complete work on new raised pedestrian crossings, this section of Hampshire Road will be temporarily closed, from Wednesday 4 April until Tuesday 24 April.
Please obey traffic signs and follow the detours in place. Pedestrian access through Hampshire Road remains open to allow easy access to local businesses, however a section of footpath has been fenced off for safety.
For more details visit Hampshire Rd Upgrade or call 9249 4000.
