Brimbank men called to join Sons of the West

Brimbank Council invites local men to join the Western Bulldogs’ Sons of the West program – a free 10-week program to help improve physical and mental health.

Mayor Cr John Hedditch said Brimbank Council had been involved with the Western Bulldogs’ Sons of the West campaign since it was first launched in 2014.

A Growing Program

“In its first year, Sons of the West engaged more the 1000 men across the west of Melbourne, including about 180 Brimbank men, in simple, healthy activities aimed at boosting their health,” Cr Hedditch said.

“We are delighted to see this program continue to grow – helping even more Brimbank men to improve their health.

“I encourage men in Brimbank to register for the Sons of the West program and come along to sessions in Brimbank to find out more about healthy living.”

Sons of the West is a 10-week program for men aged 18 and older. It aims to improve mental and physical health through a series of workshops, presentations, events and experiences.

Activities are held locally under the themes of Healthy Eating, Physical Activity and Mental Health.

The program caters for all levels of knowledge and fitness, with physical activity sessions split into groups catering for different levels of fitness.
