Brimbank Writers Awards

You love writing so that's why you should enter your short stories, poetry or song lyrics in the 2015 Brimbank Writers Awards! There's more than $3500 in prizes on offer, and by crikey, some of that should be yours!


Who can enter?
Anyone who lives, works or studies in Brimbank! Get your entries in by submitting online from Monday 1 June to 10 July 2015 at Brimbank Writers Festival. There's no charge to enter.


What about the categories?
The 2015 Brimbank Writers Awards categories are:

  • Adult Short Story (18 years and over);
  • Teenage Short Story  (13-17 years);
  • Children’s Open Category (8-12 years);
  • EAL (English as an Additional Language);
  • Adult Poetry;
  • Teenage Poetry; and
  • Song writing (lyrics).

Don't worry! We've got you covered! 

We'll be having writing workshops led by well-known writers! They're a great opportunity to find inspiration, learn techniques and unlock your inner storyteller. And they're at no cost!

Bookings for workshops can also be made by calling 9249 4181 or emailing writersfestival@brimbank.vic.gov.au.

Workshop participants can also win a one year membership to Writers Victoria.

 

I write but don't have access to a computer at home!
No problem You can work on your at no charge at the nearest Brimbank library. Brimbank Libraries staff can also provide assistance in submitting entries online.

Brimbank Writers and Readers Festival
The 2015 Brimbank Writers Awards Ceremony, part of the 2015 Brimbank Writers and Readers Festival, will be held at Overnewton Castle in Keilor on Monday 14 September 2015 at 7-9pm. Shortlisted entrants and their families will be invited to attend.
