Celebrate Australia Day alongside Brimbank’s newest Australian citizens!

Be part of the 2016 Australia Day celebrations on Tuesday 26 January at Kevin Wheelahan Gardens, Devonshire Road, Sunshine, from 8am to 12noon. including a BBQ breakfast!

You're invited to Brimbank’s 2016 Australia Day celebrations featuring Victoria’s largest Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony, a visit from Brimbank’s Australia Day Ambassador - former Victorian Premier, the Hon. John Brumby - and a no charge community barbecue breakfast.

Celebrations are on Tuesday 26 January at Kevin Wheelahan Gardens, Devonshire Road, Sunshine, from 8am to 12noon.

During the community barbecue breakfast from 8-9.30am you'll be entertained by the Sunshine Community Brass Band and roving ‘Aussie Bush Explorer’ puppets.

 

Official Proceedings
Official proceedings commence at 10am with the announcement of the 2016 Brimbank Australia Day Award winners, followed by the Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony.

Chair of Brimbank Administrators, Mr John Watson encouraged community members to come along to join in the celebrations. “Council has such a fantastic morning planned which will culminate with the largest Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony in Victoria where we will welcome 220 new citizens from 38 different countries and across generations.

“This ceremony recognises the significant decision made by 220 Brimbank residents to become Australian citizens, it is truly a joyous occasion and to witness the pride and happiness of many as they receive their citizenship on such a special day is quite a moving experience.

“We will also take the opportunity to recognise the winners of the 2016 Brimbank Australia Day Awards which will be announced at a separate ceremony being held on the 18 January.”
