Come celebrate the new Green Gully Reserve playground
There’s now even more reason to visit the newly improved Green Gully Reserve in Keilor Downs with a new playground and fitness facilities installed as part of the $800,000 upgrade.
Brimbank Mayor, Cr Lucinda Congreve invites the local community to come celebrate the new facilities at the popular park on Saturday 21 September, from 11am-1pm.
“Our latest upgrade at Green Gully Reserve has made it even better, with heaps more to enjoy.
“Come along to the official opening of the upgraded park on 21 September, and enjoy a sausage sizzle, family friendly entertainment as well as an exciting live animal show, all at no charge.
“The upgrade has put in a fantastic new playground, with a landmark tower and slides. There’s also a new swing set, balancing and climbing posts, nature play areas, a picnic area, native bird sculptures, and new toilets, as well as several tree plantings and garden beds. There are also new fitness stations and a combined basketball and netball court.
“The improvements are part of the works guided by Council’s award-winning Creating Better Parks Policy and Plan. This is all about making sure we have high quality parks, playgrounds and open spaces across Brimbank.
“We know that improving facilities at local parks has flow on health and wellbeing benefits for everyone, as a nice park can attract people to get outside and be active.
“Great parks are good for our physical and mental health, and they help build connections by providing shared spaces for children and families to play and explore together.
“We’re making sure our open spaces and facilities are well-maintained and upgraded because this supports healthier lifestyles for our community,” Cr Congreve said.
Council has been implementing the Creating Better Parks Policy and Plan since 2008 and has invested $32 million upgrading and creating 105 parks across Brimbank.
