Community groups called to celebrate achievements!

Tips to successfully govern a community group

Come along and help celebrate at Brimbank City Council's Brimbank Community Governance Show Case on Monday 27 October at Sunshine Convention Centre, Sunshine from 6-8.30pm at no charge!*

The event recognises the experiences and successes of local community groups, in achieving good governance.

Five groups, representing social, cultural and seniors groups, will share their experiences regarding how they set up and govern their groups.

Invitees can also workshop the new community governance check list and ask the presenters questions - they can also make the most of the day to strengthen their relationships with other community groups active in Brimbank.

The event is part of the Brimbank Community Governance Program which aims to build and enhance the capacity of community groups and not-for-profit organisations.

Brimbank Community Governance Program participants:

  • Attend monthly community training sessions on topics requested by community groups;
  • Are supported by the provision of resources such as the Brimbank Community Governance Handbook;
  • Are given on-to-one support, advice and information as requested.

Further information on the program is available at Brimbank City Council's website.
