Council Meeting Procedures and Public Questions to Council

Council Meetings

The purpose of Council Meetings is for Council to conduct the business of Council. Council Meetings are open to the public and community members are welcome to attend and observe proceedings.

Council Meetings are generally held at 7pm on the third Tuesday of each month, except January and December.

These meetings decide policy, community development, and planning matters. They are governed by the Brimbank Governance Rules.

Reports presented to Council Meetings are available to the public except for those classified as confidential by the Local Government Act.

Planning Forums

A Planning Forum is held on the Tuesday night prior to the first Council Meeting of each month, to hear submissions in relation to planning matters.

Submitters can discuss issues with Council on planning applications that Council will subsequently consider. The forum is less formal than a Council meeting and is chaired by an attending Councillor.

Public question time

Use our online Public Question Time Form to ask Council a question.

Questions that comply with Council's Governance Rules will be read out and answered at the Council Meeting.
