From 4-15 September 2014 the Brimbank Writers and Readers Festival offers more than a dozen no charge literary events.
The 2014 festival brings together an exciting range of writers, illustrators, painters, photographers and storytellers for you to enjoy.
There’s something for everyone - from panel discussions and author talks and readings, to interviews and storytelling events, or workshops for adults, teens and children, a pop-up library and more!
Ever wanted to meet a famous author? Or polish your own writing talent? In just about two weeks, you could be doing both, and at no charge!
Don’t miss the opportunity to meet and hear from outstanding writers!
Guest authors will include John Safran, Luke Ryan, Oslo Davis, Spiri Tsintziras, Melissa Keil, Justin Heazlewood, Torre DeRoche, Eugenia Flynn and Chrissie Perry.
In addition, you can also enrol in a range of workshops to sharpen your writing, blogging and publishing techniques, join in online discussions and share your favourite festival pics to Facebook and Twitter.
Best of all, there is no charge to participate in any of the events – all you need to do is book in and get there!
Now in its ninth year, the popular festival encourages a love of writing and literature, celebrates diversity and creativity and promotes lifelong learning.

Am impressed by the programme. I hope it can be continued & built up. Congratulations.
Events like this are great for community get togethers.
Thank you so much for putting on this workshop. It’s great for children that are economically strained. It provided lots of enthusiasm.
Loved it - got some really great advice.
Presenter was great. Small group but allowed good discussion. It was great to workshop our work and learn from each other. Good tips for improving.
