Council has taken another step towards ensuring the best future use and redevelopment of the current Sunshine Municipal Office Precinct.
With the new Brimbank Community and Civic Centre at Hampshire Road proposed to open in late July, Council has taken another step towards ensuring the best future use and redevelopment of the current Sunshine Municipal Office Precinct.
In preparation for the sale of the site, work is commencing to rezone the land and guide future development.
After consultation with the community, Council decided to sell the current Sunshine Municipal Office Precinct as Council is no longer requires the land. VicTrack also owns land within the Precinct and has decided to sell too.
The land is currently zoned Public Use Zone 6, which is for local government purposes only. As the land will not be used for local government purposes in the future, it must be rezoned to enable Council and VicTrack to sell it.
Council proposes to rezone the land to a General Residential Zone which fits because the sites are within an area of established housing and it's consistent with the Brimbank Housing Strategy 2014.
Amendment C126 will also:
Proposed Environmental Overlay
Council is proposing the environmental audit overlay to ensure an environmental assessment is made before any new sensitive use, such as housing, takes place on the site.
The existing Heritage Overlay over part of the building will be retained, as will an existing Special Building Overlay that addresses overland water flows along a small portion of western boundary.
Proposed Amendment C126 will be placed on public exhibition for community feedback for a period of four weeks.
