Mayor of Brimbank, Cr Margaret Giudice said there was no shortage of opportunities for residents to take part in In2Tennis.

“We had great success with the inaugural In2Tennis initiative in January this year. About 580 community members took part and we’ve gone on to win multiple awards.

“In 2018 the 10-day program of tennis activities has been planned to coincide with the Australian Open.

“There are 36 activities scheduled, starting with the official opening event on Friday 19 January from 11am to 3pm right outside the Brimbank Community and Civic Centre on Hampshire Road, Sunshine.

“If you love tennis, have thought about trying tennis, or are just looking for an opportunity to be active and meet new people, In2Tennis is perfect for you”, the Mayor said.

What's Happening?

Ten local tennis clubs will host the planned activities, which include:

  • Hot Shots – The introduction program into tennis suitable for five to 12 year olds. Uses smaller racquets, nets, courts and softer balls to make it enjoyable for all.
  • Cardio Tennis – Bringing together a variety of cardio workouts and a range of fun tennis drills. Cardio Tennis is all about quick fitness and great tunes. No tennis skills necessary. Suitable for anyone over the age of 12.
  • Mums and Bubs (NEW for 2018) – A fun and safe tennis program for mums and bubs. A chance to get fit and have fun while your child plays with a range of toys on the next court. All ages welcome.
  • Free Tennis Court Use – Book a court to play with friends (BYO racquets and balls) at no charge, at selected times and venues.

There will also be a Blind Sports Victoria Demonstration at Delahey Tennis Club on 27 January from 2-3pm.
