Have Your Say: Draft Brimbank Children's Plan 2015-2019

The draft Brimbank Children’s Plan (BCP) 2015–2019 is designed to provide a direction for the development and coordination of educational, care and health programs, activities and other local developments for children aged 0 -12 years living in a Brimbank.

The draft BCP 2015–2019 has been developed with the help of children, their parents, carers, service providers and Council staff, and assessment of relevant research evidence.

Council’s Role, Vision, Principles and Goals

  • Council Role
    Council will lead, develop, coordinate and advocate for safe and healthy environments, services, activities, and communities that support children to grow up feeling part of the community and able to reach their potential.
     
  • Vision
    Brimbank is a place where all children feel they belong and are safe, and where they can play, learn and develop to be confident and healthy.
     
  • Principles
    The principles that underpin Council’s role in working to develop a better future for children and families living in Brimbank reflect Council’s commitment to social justice, and are consistent with the guiding principles of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. Within the Brimbank community these are demonstrated through equity, valuing and respecting difference, and participation.
     
  • Goals
    The draft BCP has identified four (4) overall goals that will shape Council responses. Each goal has associated key strategic directions, actions and performance indicators that will be used to deliver outcomes to the Brimbank community. The four (4) goals are as follows:
    • Goal One: Children are Healthy, Happy and Safe
    • Goal Two: Learning and Developing
    • Goal Three: Belonging and Connecting
    • Goal Four: Listening and Partnering.
