Summary

A new $1.4 million sports pavilion that will accommodate women, juniors and people of all abilities is being constructed at Arthur Beachley Reserve in Sunshine West.

A new $1.4 million sports pavilion that will accommodate women, juniors and people of all abilities is being constructed at Arthur Beachley Reserve in Sunshine West.

Mayor of Brimbank, Cr Margaret Giudice said the new pavilion will replace the existing facility that no longer meets community needs and the growing junior sports club who call the reserve home.

“The new pavilion will provide a modern home for the Brimbank Bucks Rugby Union Club that will meet their needs going forward, as well as those of the wider community.

“The pavilion will include accessible unisex change rooms and toilets, a social room, referee rooms, a meeting room, first aid room and storage rooms.

“This project is just one of a list of sports facility upgrades and enhancement projects worth a total of $8.8 million we’re delivering this year under Brimbank’s 2017/2018 Capital Works Budget,” the Mayor said.

Council recently completed the construction of a new soccer pavilion at Ardeer Reserve ($1.6 million) and unisex change rooms at Bon Thomas Reserve in Deer Park ($850,000).

Upcoming projects include a $1.7 million sportsground redevelopment at Bon Thomas Reserve (including floodlighting), and an upgrade to the car park at the Keilor Basketball and Netball Stadium in Keilor Park.

The existing pavilion at Arthur Beachley Reserve will be demolished once the new pavilion is complete.

Construction is expected to be completed by October 2018.
