New Programs for Young People at Sydenham Neighbourhood House

Young people in Brimbank need spaces to hang out after school that are safe and fun

Summary

Sydenham Neighbourhood House is listening to young people - who tell us they want fun activities like dance, games and singing and a place to hang out and chill with friends, at no charge. We have heard them and we will provide a hang out space on Tuesdays and Wednesdays to start with music. And healthy snacks will also be available.

Sydenham Neighbourhood House is responding to young people looking for something to do after school. Ideally located above the Sydenham Library and across the road from Watergardens Station, Sydenham Neighbourhood House (SNH) has a dance studio, a study area and a range of other flexible spaces.

SNH is offering a drop-in no cost dance class on Wednesday afternoons with Lerato, who is a Melbourne Dancehall Queen champion and member of the Burn City Queens known for their fierce club performances across the city.

A space to hang out, and to talk with community workers about what other opportunities young people would like at SNH is also on offer on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons 4pm – 6pm.

The Brimbank Neighbourhood House Unit is committed to making Sydenham Neighbourhood House a welcoming space for young people that offers low and no cost opportunities for young people to learn new skills, express themselves and create their own community projects.
