Priority applications for sports membership subsidies - In2Sport


Eligible females, people with a disability, and first timers wanting to get involved in local sports are being given priority access to apply for Brimbank’s sports membership subsidy program, In2Sport.

The 2020/2021 In2Sport Brimbank priority application period opens Monday 20 January 2020. Applications for everyone else open on 17 February 2020.

Brimbank Mayor, Cr Georgina Papafotiou, said the program assists children living in Brimbank take part in community sport, regardless of financial circumstances.

‘In2Sport Brimbank is a fantastic Council-initiative that has been assisting young people get involved in local sports since 2013.

‘Playing sport is great for physical and mental health, and it’s a fantastic way to get involved in the local community, build friendships and develop healthy lifestyle habits.

‘I encourage all families out there with kids who want to join a local sports club - and who meet the In2Sport criteria - to apply,’ Cr Papafotiou said.

Through In2Sport children aged between six and 18 years are eligible to apply for up to $200 financial assistance (up to 75 per cent of the membership cost) to contribute to club membership fees at participating Brimbank sports clubs.

To be eligible, children must live in Brimbank with their name listed on a Health Care Card or Pension Concession Card.

The subsidy for successful applicants is passed on directly to participating sports clubs through Council.

This 2020 application period will consider applications for participation in winter and year round sports, including: soccer; AFL football; rugby; tennis; netball; basketball; and badminton.
