Sunshine Plaza: Brimbank's Own Solar Hub

Summary

Sunshine Plaza Shopping Centre's installation of rooftop solar is already returning dividends with the Centre experiencing a 50% reduction in its energy bills.

With a prime main street presence, the Sunshine Plaza Shopping Centre is a focal point for the local community in more ways than one.

Recently the Sunshine Plaza management installed the largest private solar installation in Victoria with the rooftop housing 4,500 panels. The initiative is a great example of a local business investing in sustainable and environmentally friendly initiatives.

The action taken by the centre management is a pre-emptive strike aimed at addressing the rising cost of energy, a cost which is expected to increase in the future.

Dave Burgham, Centre Manager, said “The installation is already returning dividends with the Centre experiencing a 50% reduction in its energy bills and the power being generated going a long way to maintaining a manageable energy outgoing for the tenants.”

The significant investment looks like returning a dividend in ‘spades’. There is always room for businesses to save costs and increase efficiencies through sustainable practices.
