Supporting Brimbank to adapt, survive and thrive

How resilient is Brimbank to future challenges? A new draft framework identifies Brimbank Council’s commitments and actions to help our community adapt, survive and thrive – whatever the future may bring.

Brimbank Mayor Cr Margaret Giudice invited the community to have a say on the Draft Resilient Brimbank Framework – which Brimbank Council endorsed for public consultation this week.

“Resilience is our ability to ‘bounce back’ from shocks and stresses that affect us.

“Resilient communities have strong connections, and look after each other in good times and through more challenging times.

“This framework aims to support communities to adapt to change and to build connections so that we are all better equipped to bounce back from difficulties,” Cr Giudice said.

The draft framework is a local response to the Resilient Melbourne Strategy – part of the Resilient Melbourne Project being delivered by the City of Melbourne with support from other metropolitan councils, including Brimbank.

It identifies four objectives: working together to address disadvantage and strengthen our community; a dynamic economy; shared places; and supporting a healthy environment.

It also includes a timeline of events and changes throughout Brimbank’s history that have shaped Brimbank and may impact on the community’s future.

Residents and other stakeholders are invited to provide feedback on the draft framework, its objectives and vision and to suggest other events that are important in telling Brimbank’s story.
