Construction is set to commence on the first stage of the Hampshire Road Master Plan this month, concentrating on the area between Devonshire Road and Dickson Street, Sunshine.
There'll be new footpaths, street lighting upgrades, a raised pedestrian crossing and construction of a sculptural seating wall.
The works will cost $1,180,000, including a $200,000 grant from the Victorian Government’s Community Infrastructure Fund.
The Hampshire Road Master Plan is a stunning vision of Sunshine’s premier street, stretching from Sunshine Station to Victoria University.
As with most construction projects, motorists wanting to travel along this section of Hampshire Road can expect some disruptions with lane closures expected during certain periods.
Council will work closely with its contractor to ensure disruptions to motorists, pedestrians and businesses are kept to a minimum.
Stage one works are expected to take about five months to complete.
