School Holiday Fun at Brimbank Libraries
Is their a paper plane wiz in your family? A Minecraft master? Children aged 5–16 are invited to join in a Paper Plane Making and Throwing Competition and Minecraft Games Competition.

Our Paper Plane Competition includes instructions on making different planes. Whoever's flies furthest wins!

Winners at each event will receive a $20 gift voucher. The grand prize winner gets a trophy, a DVD of the Paper Planes movie, and a $50 gift voucher.

Minecraft Competitions are back! Tablets are provided to use for the competition. $30 gift vouchers for first place and $20 gift vouchers for second place. Bookings are essential.

Aboriginal Storytelling
Brimbank Libraries will host two Aboriginal storytelling performances from Western Creations on Friday 10 July, at

Western Creations draws Aboriginal music, song, dance, art and history, to bring Indigenous culture in to your heart and mind. No charge

 


Asylum Seeker Community Day Saturday 27 June, 4–7pm
Come and show your support in welcoming asylum seekers to the Brimbank Community at this very special family friendly event full of free activities, including:

  • funky stage program with DJ Wise
  • healthy food choices
  • children’s entertainment including the Humanitarian Clowns
  • no charge family activities
  • family friendly film screening
  • service provider information tables.

Wildflower Garden Working Bees
The area we know today as Brimbank was once covered by a diverse mix of grasses, wildflowers and orchids known as Western Plains Grasslands. Council has developed a set of Wildflower Display Gardens to highlight the beauty and uniqueness of plants indigenous to our area.

Join us for a fun day of planting, pruning, weeding and mulching! Share your gardening tips over morning tea. Please bring your own gloves.

Ethical Shopping Tour - Sunday 12 July, 2–4:30pm
Every time you shop you have an impact on the planet and its people. Join our hands-on shopping tour and learn how to make shopping less wasteful and stressful, which products are sustainable, and why we should shop ethically.

No charge. Bookings required.

Get involved - Space to Create
Artists in the West looking for a creative space in a supportive environment are encouraged to apply for studios available in Sunshine, Keilor and Deer Park.

Sunshine Art Spaces has two low cost shared artist studios available.

Keilor Art Shed has one studio perfect for large projects. Joint applications from individuals or a group of artists willing to share the space are welcome.

Deer Park Art Spaces has one vacant studio located at Hunt Club Community Arts Centre, one of Brimbank's significant nineteenth century buildings.

Spaces are available for up to two years. Where suitable, joint applications to share the spaces are welcome.

The weekly fee is typically $20 or $25 per week, per space. Applications close this Fri 26 June at 5pm.
