We Are Brimbank Awards recognise Brimbank's unsung heroes
Six exceptional local organisations and community groups have been celebrated as winners of the 2019 We Are Brimbank Awards.
Mayor of Brimbank, Cr Lucinda Congreve said the awards recognise the exceptional contributions, hard work and determination of organisations and community groups making a positive difference to Brimbank.
“I recently had the pleasure of presenting the 2019 We Are Brimbank Awards.
“Now in their second year, these awards are a fantastic way to acknowledge all the hard work, the great projects and organisations that contribute to our community.
“Brimbank is a community that pulls together to get things done and that’s why it’s important for us to celebrate the incredible organisations and community groups that make our municipality so great,” Cr Congreve said.
The recipients of the 2019 We Are Brimbank Awards, presented across five categories, are:
- Culture, Arts & Tourism Award: Sunshine Short Film Festival
- Environment & Sustainability Award: Scalise Studios
- Employment & Enterprise Award: Djerriwarrh Community and Education Services
- Inclusive Brimbank Award: The Youth Junction
- Learning Excellence Award: jointly won by Kontiki Cultural Women Empowerment Inc. and RMCC Volunteers
In addition to announcing the winners, honourable mentions were also awarded under each of the categories.
“A huge congratulations to all the very worthy winners and nominees across all categories.
“While the We Are Brimbank Awards recognise the work of organisations and community groups in our community, our Australia Day Awards are focussed on individuals who make an outstanding contribution to Brimbank.
“We are now inviting nominations for the Brimbank Citizen of the Year and Brimbank Young Citizen of the Year awards.
“So, if you know someone who deserves to be nominated, don’t hesitate – nominate!” Cr Congreve said.
Nominations for Brimbank’s Australia Day Awards can be made via Council’s website and close on Friday 15 November.
The We Are Brimbank Awards were presented at a special ceremony held at the Celebrate Brimbank Community Day on Sunday 20 October in Cairnlea.
